This time of year, it’s just great to walk or ride a bike over the Cooper River, on the Arthur Ravenelle Junior Bridge! The views are the best from the Mount Pleasant side.

One of the best beaches to visit is on Sullivan’s Island. It’s usually not quite as crowded as the others, and just exquisite. Or, you could also do a picnic in Hampton Park! All of these activities are great to do with the whole family.

If you’d like to see an Eighteenth Century house that’s completely preserved, go to Drayton Hall, a plantation that will take you back into time!

Don’t miss Angel Oak, which is located just outside of Charleston on John’s Island. It’s about 66 feet tall and 28 feet in circumference, and it’s over 500 years old!

You won’t want to leave down without going down fabulous King Street, where you can visit the little shops, eat at the local restaurants, and grab an ice cream to enjoy by the waterfront and the giant Pineapple Fountain!

June: Vacation or Stay-Cation, it’s All Fun!

It will be fun fun fun if the sun ever comes out again in South Florida!

Palm Beach County has so much going on June through September. It’s called a “stay-cation,” right here in our own backyard!

Take a walk on the Lake Trail in Palm Beach or visit the Flagler Museum. The Seagull Cottage is another sweet spot – so much history to discover right here!

In Boca, we’ve got the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center! And, in Juno Beach, the Loggerhead Marine Life Center. These are wonderful discovery centers to explore with the kids, or friends and family of any age!

The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens are having a Sushi & Stroll, it’s a summer walk on the second Friday of the month all the way through September – another fun thing to do with the family! Go to morikami.org for more information.

Also, another fun thing to catch is a baseball game! It might be the Minor Leagues, but it’s still a blast at the Roger Dean Stadium up in Jupiter.

We’ve got Bitchin’ Blues with Mark Telesca at the helm, every Monday at the Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton. Free admission! They are wonderful entertainers – come in and jam!

The Colony is offering music every night of the week in the Polo Lounge. Copeland Davis, an amazing Pianist will be performing Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, we’ve got Dawn Marie who will be performing Thursdays and Saturday evenings, and Mo-Town on Friday Nights. Can’t beat that!

Old Northwood Village will be having their art night from 6 PM until 9 PM on Friday May 25th. There are unique boutiques and restaurants to explore, street vendors, mural artists and live music. Fun for everyone in the family!

Mid May is Still Movin’ and Groovin’ in PB County

There’s a lot to do here mid May in Palm Beach County!

Peter Schaffer’s Equus is still playing at Palm Beach Dramaworks, a riveting play through June the 3rd – a must see! Contact their box office at 561-514-4042 for additional information.

Thursday nights at Bassa Groove at The Dirty Martini at Downtown at the Gardens is just moving and grooving with a swingin’ band. Lots of dancing and a great time for all!

My movie pick of the week is Book Club! It opens this weekend and certainly has a stellar cast: Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda, Candice Bergen, and Mary Steenburgen – definitely catch this flick if you can!

Doobie Brothers John McPhee and Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons along with Steely Dan will be co-headlining the Summer of Living Dangerously on May 17th at Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach. Sounds like a great night to me! Check the papers regarding time and ticket information.

Exciting news for us West Palm Beachers: the Brightline will be starting to run their trains all the way to Miami starting May 19th. I took a ride down to Fort Lauderdale, and boy, it beat the traffic – what a fun way to get to Miami!

The Palm Beach Zoo is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this coming year, and just won one of the top tourism awards in the country – if you haven’t been this year, it’s a must!

Early April is Full of Fun

There are always interesting things happening in Palm Beach County the first week of April…

The Palm Beach Symphony will have a lovely concert entitled Romantic Reflections, April 17th at 8 PM at the Kravis. Go to kravis.org for further information – it’s sure to be a great performance.

The Historical Society of Palm Beach County will have a series of special events on Saturday April 7th, starting at 11 AM and ending around 6 PM. The event is called The Swamp, and it’s all about the Everglades, and how to preserve them. For further information, go to HSPBC.org.
