Spring into May

There are so many activities that are still springing up this May in Palm Beach County!

One of the most exciting events of the week is the grand opening of Reynold’s Ranch Jupiter, this Sunday on May 21st from 12 PM to 3 PM. There will be a live broadcast of Jill and Rich from The Morning Lounge on Legends Radio 100.3. FM. Burt will be there himself to cut the ribbon! There will be food, live entertainment, petting zoo, pony rides, and free tickets to Burt’s show coming up at the Eissey Theater on June 1st. Fun for the entire family, and a chance to see the beautiful new sample home.

Another exciting event coming up is the 1st Annual West Palm Beach Spring Art Festival on May 26th, 27th and 28th at 925 North Railwood Avenue in West Palm Beach. It’s being hosted by the Danieli Art World Gallery. There will be art demonstrations, food, drinks, live music and a DJ. Many famous local and international talent will be at this fabulous event. For more fun in West Palm Beach, on the 20th head to the Bowery in CityPlace. The Palm Beach Pinup Party, with “Popeye” as your host from Memory Lane, and a dozen other singers and dancers and performers of all types. What a great night!

On the 23rd we welcome back, Billy Stritch and Jim Caruso, doing their Cast Party from New York’s Birdland at the Crest Theatre at Old School Square in Delray Beach. There will be dozens of entertainers getting up and sharing their talent. A wonderful night! A special treat will be to see my 13 year-old discovery Ava Faith.

The Tony-Award Winning Monty Python stage show Spamalot is coming to Rinker Playhouse At the Kravis Center. It will be there from May 19th through June 4th. Get your tickets for a silly and fun experience!

An interesting combination of events, a yoga and beer pairing that features a 75 minute yoga class at 736 Park Avenue this Saturday at noon, after which attendees walk over to the Brewhouse Gallery to try some of the craft beers. Sounds like fun to me! More online at theinnerbrew.com.

There’s a lot to do in May in Palm Beach County! Things may slow down a bit, but it’s a chance to smell the roses…

West Palm Beach at the Waterfront has a schedule of wonderful free events. Clematis by Night features live music on Thursday, and on Friday May 12th you can see Screen on the Green, showing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, from 8 PM until 11 PM at the Waterfront Commons.

Baby Boomer Baby is now showing through May 28th at the PGA Art Center. Written and starring National Lampoon’s Tommy Koenig – should be hilarious and wildly entertaining!

Friday May 12th from 6 PM to 9 PM at the Hibiscus House in West Palm Beach is Tony Silver on guitar with his friend Joe Demko. They’ll be playing everything from acoustic to rock n’ roll and funk! A great place for music and munchies.

Monday nights at the Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton it’s Blues Night! Go and enjoy yourself, it will be wonderful entertainment. We look forward to seeing Mark Telesca, guitarist and singer, back at the helm in the fall to share his talent with us.

April Fun Brings May Sun

With April showers, there’s still a lot blooming here in Palm Beach County. May is right around the corner, and will be bringing in the flowers.

In Jupiter, at the Double Roads Tavern, we have some fun things happening this week. On Friday, April 28th it’s JazzyKazzy and the Badass Boys – they’ll be performing from 5:30 to 8 PM. Sunday afternoon, enjoy the CD release party for Marty Gilman & Friends from 5 o’clock until 9 PM. You’ll feel like you’re at the Blue Note in New York City! So many incredible jazz musicians, and a wonderful selection by Marty Gilman.

YWCA’s Pre-Derby Tea will be at the Chesterfield on May 4th at 2:30 PM. It’s a great cause, and you get a chance to wear your most creative hat. Tickets might already be sold out, but you can still donate to a wonderful organization.

The Photographic Centre of West Palm Beach is having 20 photographers exhibit their works. This exhibition is called Photography of Place, and it’s showing through May 6th – always an interesting display of talent.

The Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach is having their All Student Show through Friday, April 14th. I always find this to be an enjoyable exhibition.

An adorable show for the whole family: at Old School Square and the Crest Theatre in Delray Beach, it’s the Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre on April the 18th at 7 PM. The furry and fabulous show will feature over 30 pets from different shelters, along with Moscow circus veteran Gregory Popovich. It is sure to be an incredible show.

On the 15th of April, one night only, it’s Chris Botti at the Kravis Center. His trumpet playing and showmanship make it my favorite performance of the year! If you haven’t seen him perform, it’s a must-see.

At the Colony through April 15th it’s Mary Wilson of the Supremes! She’s a phenomenal performer, with so much energy and life. Seeing her show is like going back to the days of Motown.

Another fun outing for people of all ages is at the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum in West Palm Beach…For the Love of the Game: Baseball in the Palm Beaches through July.

On April 6th, it’s The Modern Show, an art show at Studio 1608.  See the artworks at 1608 South Dixie in West Palm Beach. The event is sponsored by Piper’s Angel Foundation and will feature 25 to 40 artists at the exhibition – it’s not to be missed!

My movie pick of the week: Frantz, a film that takes place during the aftermath of World War I. Extremely moving – it was filmed in Germany and France.
