Marvelous Month of May is Here!

May is here, and activities are really starting to heat up here in Palm Beach County this week!

Sunfest is still smoking hot through Sunday, with top musical acts, arts and crafts, delicious munchies, and the most incredible fireworks display ever! Sunday night, not to be missed – come with the whole family.

Friday night there is a special treat: A Night with Ballet Atlantica at The Box Gallery in West Palm Beach. Get your tickets here!

Exciting news for Michael Masci fans! He’s now performing every Thursday night at the Pelican Cafe. Fabulously entertaining and delicious food.

One of my most favorite things is The Sound of Music, coming to the Kravis Center for Performing Arts! It opens on May 9th, and you can get your tickets right here. What a wonderful way to spend an evening, singing Do Re Mi….

Palm Beach is alive, with the sound of music!

On the 13th of May, also at the Kravis Center, is American Tapestry, featuring the young singers of the Palm Beaches. There will be 350 voices, all singing broadway, jazz and pop songs. Not to be missed – a very entertaining evening for all.

If you are supportive of Palm beach County’s brightest youngest stars, you might enjoy going to the Dreyfoos School of the Arts to see one of their outstanding performances. All of May is a combination of spring dance concerts, theater senior showcases, choreography showcases, band concerts, jazz combos…It is just outstanding what these kids do! April Fun Brings May Sun

With April showers, there’s still a lot blooming here in Palm Beach County. May is right around the corner, and will be bringing in the flowers.

We’ve got Sunfest starting May 3rd for five days! Three stages, 50 bands – it’s an incredible festival and I look forward to it every year – especially the fireworks! Order your tickets now at sunfest.com.

Fun in the sun. — If you can’t be at the New Orleans Jazz Festival, it’s the next best thing!

Make your reservations early for Mother’s Day! On the 14th of May, Sandy Stewart will be swingin’ and singin’ at the Wick Dinner Theatre. Call (561) 995-2333 to find out more and reserve your spot!

In Jupiter, at the Double Roads Tavern, we have some fun things happening this week. On Friday, April 28th it’s JazzyKazzy and the Badass Boys – they’ll be performing from 5:30 to 8 PM. Sunday afternoon, enjoy the CD release party for Marty Gilman & Friends from 5 o’clock until 9 PM. You’ll feel like you’re at the Blue Note in New York City! So many incredible jazz musicians, and a wonderful selection by Marty Gilman.

YWCA’s Pre-Derby Tea will be at the Chesterfield on May 4th at 2:30 PM. It’s a great cause, and you get a chance to wear your most creative hat. Tickets might already be sold out, but you can still donate to a wonderful organization.

Enjoy the Masterworks Chorus concert: An Afternoon with Vivaldi and Haydn, at the DeSantis Family Chapel on April 30th at 4 PM in West Palm Beach. You can buy tickets at the door, or get them online at masterworkspalmbeach.org.

Happiness Club is gathering May 1st at BICE Restaurant from 5 to 6:30 PM. Who doesn’t want to be happy? Come and have fun!

The Photographic Centre of West Palm Beach is having 20 photographers exhibit their works. This exhibition is called Photography of Place, and it’s showing through May 6th – always an interesting display of talent.

Movie pick of the week: Lost City of Z. It’s a riveting adventure that takes place in the Amazon.

Life is Flowering This April in Palm Beach County

With April showers, there is a lot of activity flowering in Palm Beach County this week.

PLANT-A-PALOOZA 2017 this week at Mount’s Botanical Garden is featuring and an amazing assortment of exotic plants and flowers. The best part is, you can take them home! It’s on Saturday and Sunday April 29th and 30th.

On April 21st from 5 to 8 PM, we have the APBC, Art on Park Gallery in Lake Park. It’s the opening reception for the Still Life 2017 Exhibit featuring artist Barry Seidman.

April 27th brings about the Love Fest 2017, an event at Rocco’s Tacos in Palm Beach Gardens to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please call for a reservation through Revolution’s Dating. Don’t miss your spot at this Love Fest!

With the season coming to an end, there’s a celebration and it’s the End of the Season Party at Cafe L’Europe with entertainers Philippe Harari and Bobbi Rae! If you want to dance the night away, make your reservation soon or you won’t get a table. It’s going to be a fun night!

For you theater goers out there, if you’re a fan of Neil Simon, it’s They’re Playing Our Song at the Lake Worth playhouse April 15th through the 30th.

Different cast, different theater, still a story that will delight all.

If you’re a social butterfly, and have a conscience, you’ll want to go to the Butterfly Ball! It benefit’s The Lord’s Place and St. Ann’s. It’s being held at the Sailfish Club in Palm Beach on Saturday April 22nd at 7 PM. Call Tierney O’Hara at 561-449-1212 to reserve a spot. It’s an exclusive Palm Beach party, and the funds raised go to a wonderful charity.

My movie pick of the week is The Zookeeper’s Wife. It’s a very moving story that takes place in 1939, in Warsaw, Poland.

A personal favorite of mine is seeing my little 13-year-old rising star Ava Faith sing at the Jazz Jam at Double Roads Tavern in Jupiter this Sunday April 23rd from 5 to 9 PM. Not to be missed!

Remember, with the season being full of sunshine and flowers, wear those beautiful whites and brights and pastels and it’s all about style.

A fun thing to do is: My Life On A Diet, with Renee Taylor. She’s hysterical! It’s at Mizner Park Cultural Center in Boca on March 30th and April 1st – don’t miss!

A must-see event! — Renee is known for playing the mother of Fran Drescher in the TV show ‘The Nanny’ – she’s hilarious!

Before all the Easter Egg hunts begin, check out an exhibit at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens – Rising: The Mystical World of Sophie Ryder – April 30th.

My movie pick of the week: Beauty and the Beast. A must-see for the entire family. Try to see it on the IMAX screen. A wonderful film.

On April 3rd it’s the final event of the Cultural Council of the Palm Beaches, it’s Culture & Cocktails: An interview with Rob Russell and Jill & Rich Switzer. Informative and entertaining!

Talking about The Colony, one of my favorite crooners is Michael Masci! He tickles the ivories and does his crooning thing at the Polo Lounge every Tuesday through Thursday night during the season. Hop over there, and make sure you don’t miss him – he’s a treat!

If you want to slow down the pace a bit, do a walking history tour at the West Palm Beach Green Market on April 1st at 10 AM. Join local historian and architect Rick Gonzalez for a fun and lively morning tour. For further information, go to wpb.org/events.

Everyone is green with envy this St. Patty’s Day in Palm Beach County!

It may take more than a four-leaf clover, but try to score a seat to Steve Tyrell at the Royal Room at The Colony Hotel. He captivates the audience, and it’s a wonderful show.

On March 19th it’s Deborah Silver at The Colony’s Royal Room to celebrate the The Society of the Preservation of the Great American Songbook. Another wonderful event!

March 17th to the 19th it’s Program 4 featuring Who Cares? Miami City Ballet performs at the Kravis featuring George Balanchine and more. Exciting to watch.

Just a heads up, but during the construction phase at the Norton Museum, admission is free for all! Can’t beat that…It’s Deco Japan: Shaping Art & Culture from the 1920s to 1945 at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. What a treat!

It’s Mo-town and tacos at Banko Cantina in downtown West Palm Beach on Tuesday nights. Bring a crowd of friends – it’s a party!

Through April 9th at the Wick Theatre in Boca Raton, we’ve got the toe-tappin’ Guys and Dolls.

For you dog lovers out there, my movie pick of the week is A Dog’s Purpose. Heartwarming.
