Bonnie’s Buzzing around the country this summer, and Bonnie Loves to Travel! I’ll be sharing with you all the wonderful spots in the United States, and what to do when you get there.
If you happen to be lucky enough to go to the nation’s capital in the month of June, Washington D.C. and the surrounding areas have a lot of fun activities.
A great event: Summer Escape: Mount Vernon. Enjoy local brews and eats and bluegrass music, along with beautiful lantern-lit views of the waterfront from 6PM until 9PM on June 9th and 10th. Call (703) 780-2000 for tickets, and contact George Washington’s Mount Vernon. It should be a wonderful event.
June 9th through June 18th is the DC Jazz Festival! Venues include Yards Park, Howard Theatre, Kennedy Center, so much talent! Pat Metheny and much more! Call (855) 332 – 7767 for more information.
The month of June brings about the 2017 AFI DOCS Film Festival! The American Film Institute puts together an international film fest with the leading documentaries from all over the country. Go to AFI’s website at www.afi.com for updates and scheduling.
A fun thing for the whole family: Truckeroo! Over two dozen food trucks getting together and serving everything from homemade cookies and milk to Vietnamese sandwiches. It’s near the Bullpen near Yards Park in Washington D.C. Free admission on June 16th from 11 AM until 11 PM.
Also on June 16th from 8 PM to Midnight, the National Geographic Museum has the Explorer Festival After Hours party in their courtyard, and free access to the Earth Explore exhibit. They’ll have food and music, and all kind of fun things going on. Sounds like so much fun!
Straight from Broadway to Washington, at the Jon F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, go see Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
The National Theatre is having the 20th Anniversary Tour of Rent, Jonathan Larson’s classic play from Broadway from June 20th to the 25th. Call the theater at (202) 628 – 6161 for tickets.
I’m visiting my friend Victoria in Washington D.C. – she introduced me to Jonathan Larsen before Rent even went to Broadway!
Washington D.C. it hot this time of year, so cottons are best for staying cool. Pair a form-fitting tunic with one of our new leather Daniela Ortiz bags for a fresh summer look.
