Philly, My Hometown

Philadelphia – my hometown! A city of brotherly love…If you’ve never been to this historic American city before, it’s a must! There are some great spots to check out.

The Philadelphia Art Museum and the new Barnes Foundation are the most amazing museums in the country – of course, I’m bias! Currently the Philadelphia has an exhibition titled “Inside Out,” featuring art in unexpected places.

For this exhibition, you’ll see art in unexpected places.

The Franklin Institute is a must for science buffs in the family! Enjoy the latest exhibits such as the Terracotta Warriors, interactive 3D printing, space command and more. You can even watch an IMAX movie while you’re there!

Historically, there are wonderful things to see like the Liberty Bell Museum, where you can see the original Liberty Bell, and Betsy Ross’s house, where the first flag was sewn! You can even see a copy of the original Declaration of Independence at Independence Hall.

In particular this October, Chestnut Hill, a beautiful section outside the center of town is housing the Harry Potter Festival. Then, there’s the Terror Behind The Walls of the Eastern State Penitentiary…Sounds like a spooky fun way to spend an evening! And, there’s also Octoberfest, at the Midtown Village Fall Festival, where they’ll be brewing some very tasty treats.

Harry Potter Fest in Philly – a great family outing!

My cashmere sweaters are a must for that chilly East Coast air this time of year! They come in different colors, sizes, and styles. Pair one with an antique neck piece for a look that works all day and all night! It’s all about style.

Rocky Mountain High

Bonnie’s buzzing around the country this summer, and Bonnie Loves to Travel! I’ll be sharing with you all the wonderful spots in the United States and what to do when you get there.

This week it’s all about Rocky Mountain High, and Aspen, Colorado is the place to be! Aspen is home of the Food & Wine Festival, the Aspen Art Museum, International Music Festival, and the ballet.

Lot’s to explore in Aspen.

On the Fourth of July, a parade runs down the old part of town down Main Street and fireworks are all over the Aspen mountains. Bike ride down to the Rio Grande Trail all the way down Valley to Basalt, and then cheat and take the bus back to town.

4th of July Parade in Aspen, Colorado.

Make sure you stop at the Woody Creek Tavern, a must for everyone for a fabulous lunch and a way to recharge the battery.

Wood Creek Tavern – great place to grab a bite.

Hike around Maroon Bells. It’s amazing, the most breathtaking part of the Rockies. You can even take public transportation! They have buses that take you right to the trailhead, and you can take beautiful pictures. You can even take a gondola up Aspen Mountain for a view of the entire Aspen Valley, and the view of the Continental Divide.

People go to Aspen to ski in the winter, but the summers are gorgeous! The music festival brings loads of people from all over the United States and Europe.

Aspen Musical Festival – enjoy music and the outdoors at the same time!

On Sunday afternoons you can go and sit on a blanket and have a picnic and listen to the visiting orchestra for free. Also, there are wonderful exhibitions at the Aspen Art Museum.

On July 22nd and 23rd, Aspen has a fabulous art festival for free, right in the center of town. There will be beautiful sculptures, photography, glass, painting, ceramics, jewelry, and fantastic food to boot.
