Swinging Stars in Palm Beach

West Palm Beach is always a blast!

This week in particular, run but don’t walk down to Dramaworks on Clematis Street to see Jill and Rich Switzer perform their tribute to Peggy Lee – it might be sold out, but give it a try!

Jill & Rich

Another fun event is the Society of Four Arts on Saturday the 18th at 8 PM, live from the Metropolitan Opera at New York’s Lincoln Center is the Exterminating Angel – their productions are flawless from start to finish. It’s truly an amazing world class production.

Exterminating Angels

Movie pick of the week – Murder on the Orient Express, a perfect film for the entire family! Starring and directed by Kenneth Branagh, with a star studded cast including Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Penelope Cruz. Doesn’t get better than that! Check the paper for local listings.

Now showing in Palm Beach, FL

In the art department, I recommend seeing the Alex Katz show at the Boca Raton Museum of Art. Unlike most of the exhibits where they show large paintings, they are showing 37 of his petite canvasses, painted between 1990 and 2013. It’s a fabulous show.

My charity pick of the week is Peppermint Bark & Brunch, to benefit the Tri-County Animal Shelter. Call them directly for further information! The event is on the 19th.

A fun event for a great cause.

Also on Sunday the 19th, between 2 PM and 5 PM at the Eissey Theatre, Legends Radio is sponsoring a wonderful concert of a new rising star – Ethan Bortnick. The critics are calling him the new Michael Buble! I’ll be there in the lobby to meet and greet everyone, and give you those fashion tips for the season.

A Theatrical Season in West Palm Beach

It’s so exciting to be back home in Palm Beach!

There is so much wonderful entertainment going on in the theaters in the area.  Little Foxes now showing at the Dramaworks in West Palm, Born Yesterday is at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, I Will Survive at the PGA Arts Centre, and at the Kravis it’s The King and I.

Treat yourself to a night of theater.

At the Old School Square in Del Ray is Fleetwood Max, a tribute to Fleetwood Mac.

Swoon over these great tunes.

My movie pick of the week is Wonderstruck. A visually engrossing tale with Julianne Moore and Michelle Williams. It’s always fun to see a great film! Check the paper for local movie theaters and their times.

Wonderstruck, now playing in West Palm Beach.

For an evening out, a  personal favorite of mine is heading over to the Polo Lounge at The Colony Hotel to see Raquel Williams on a Saturday night. She has a jazz pianist, a bass player, and it’s a great chance to dance. It always makes for an enjoyable evening, and there are usually surprise guests every Saturday night.

The Candy Apple, Spooky NYC

It’s Halloween this week, and wherever you are, have a spooky wonderful week!

Spooky NYC Halloween Festivities

New York City! The “City that Never Sleeps!” The Big Apple! It’s my last stop before heading back to West Palm Beach, and it’s a great place to visit if you haven’t experienced the hustle and bustle of such a Metropolitan city.

It’s hard to beat Central Park on a Sunday afternoon. Dozens of musicians, artists, and dancers, all free for the viewing, not to mention the ponds and trees in their fall-colored glory.

Central Park in Autumn

Of course Broadway is one of the highlights of being in the city, and I’m very fortunate to be able to see Hello Dolly this week as well as Dear Evan Hanson, which won all the top awards for Best Musical.

Two Broadway shows I highly recommend.

There are also a few small off Broadway shows that I want to let people know about. One is called I of the Storm, it’s at the Gym at the Judson. Desperate Measures at the York which is on 54th and Lexington, and Lonely Planet, which is on Theater Row. Those are just a few special off Broadway productions worth seeing.

Great selections for more enjoyable performances in NYC.

For more music in the city, we have Michael Masci who surprises us on Sunday nights at Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle Hotel! He’s up from the West Palm Beach area – what a treat!

Michael Masci and Me

On Mondays, we have the Cast Party at Birdland with Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch, and a lot of Broadway surprises with so many people sharing their talent. What a great way to spend a Monday evening!

This is a fabulous show that you don’t want to miss!
So whether you’re strolling in your cashmere jacket here in New York, or you’re in your cotton and linen shirts in West Palm Beach, Florida, remember, it’s all about style.

Asheville, North Carolina – a city in the Blue Ridge Mountains! It’s known for its vibrant art scene and historic architecture.

The vast 19th Century Biltmore Estate, America’s largest home, has tours available for those curious to see the 8,000 acre property and it’s Chateau-style mansion.
