Mid-November Madness in West Palm Beach

There is so much happening here in Palm Beach County this week of November, I don’t know where to begin!

The Rotary Club is having its big opening party at the Paramount Courtyard, check that out through the Rotary Club of the Palm Beaches.  Also, don’t miss X Marks the Spot! It’s a fabulous event featuring graffiti art to be held on the 15th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 on Lake Worth, at the Cultural Council of the Palm Beaches headquarters.

On the 16th, there’s a great party at the Leeds Showroom called “Party with the Pack.” Get your tickets online, and check it out – it’s on Southern Boulevard in West Palm Beach. If you’re into theatre, Avery Sommers is going to be directing a play for the first time at the Burt Reynolds Institute – you won’t want to miss it! It’s called Shell of a Man.

I was excited to learn that Deb Silver will be at Voltaire on Saturday the 17th, doing her jazzy, swingin’ numbers, and Rachel Day will be at the Maltz Theatre if you can get a ticket. On the 18th, the Rat Pack’s Swingin’ Sunday Supper will be taking place at the Pelican Cafe! You’ll see all your friends, Dick Robinson and the whole Legends Radio crew! Jill and Rich Switzer will be there too – get your tickets through Eventbrite. Hope to see you there!

On the 19th we have Rob Russell and Michael Masci and Trio at Cafe Centro! It’s going to be a wonderful evening – get your tickets online here.  Irwin Solomon will be performing on the 20th at the Harriet Himmel at 7 o’clock – you have to go online to get those tickets.

Being in the Know in November in Palm Beach County

There are numerous things happening in Palm Beach County this first week of November.

The Abacoa Feast of Little Italy is taking over this weekend, and not to be missed. Try an assortment of Mediterranean cuisine, watch the street painting, and enjoy music too!

Also, don’t miss Plant-a-Palooza 2018! Mounts Botanical Garden is having their major plant sale for the fall. Now is the time to snag some beautiful plants for your indoor or outdoor garden.

At the Maltz Theatre up in Jupiter, we have Steel Magnolias going on until the 11th of November. They put on wonderful productions. Dramaworks has a wonderful production as well; Indecent, showing through November 11th.

The Deck the Palms Annual Holiday Market is happening this weekend as well, on November 2nd and 3rd at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. There are probably a 130 vendors, and it’s to benefit the Junior League of the Palm Beaches. Admission is free – the hours are from 6 PM until 9 PM on Friday and 9 AM until 4 PM on Saturday.

Pumpkins and Ghouls in Palm Beach

I’ve been buzzing all around the East Coast, and I’m back in Palm Beach County!

It’s Halloween, and pumpkin patches are lined up all over the county! There’s Bedners in Boynton Beach, Carson’s United Methodist Church in Delray, and Spookyville, USA.

All the trick-or-treaters should go to the community of Hope, in the East or West campus. Visit Pumpkin Towne in Jupiter or Stuart, and take your picture in the pumpkin patch full of different gourds of all shapes and sizes.

One of the biggest parties this time of year is five blocks long, with three stages, on Clematis Street. It’s been happening for 26 years, and it’s called Moonfest. Get your tickets – it’s on October 27th.

Then, there’s the Day of the Dead Ball also on the 27th, from 8 PM until 3 AM at the Blue Martini in West Palm Beach. Don’t miss the Hell of a Night Halloween Bash 2K18 on Friday at the Ball Park of the Palm Beaches on the 26th. Then there’s a Silent Party, West Palm Beach, 90s vs. Now at Revolutions in Cityplace on the 27th and 28th.

Buzzin’ in the Busy Music City, Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville – the music city! In the fall, it’s the season of football, festivals, fairs, and music. Everyone has to make a trip to the Grand Ole Opry House!

In October, they have the Southern Festival of Books: A Celebration of the Written Word. It will take place at the War Memorial Plaza. If you’re not much of a bookworm, the Tennessee Titans will be playing at Nissan Stadium.

The fabulous Tennessee Craft Fair is one of the best in the country, and takes place between October 12th and the 14th. Don’t miss Oktoberfest in the historic Germantown from October 11th until the 14th. There is even a Whiskey Festival on October the 6th.

One of the best museums in the country is the Frist Art Museum, and they have all kinds of interesting exhibitions going on. Nashville has a showboat and dinner tours that you can take down the river. There are also trolley tours that you can hop on and off of all day.

If you want to take a VIP trip to Graceland, and check out Elvis’s home, you can take a bus from Nashville to Memphis for the day.

Falling for Autumn in The Big Apple

Autumn in New York…A great song, and a great place to be. There are lots of amazing activities for everyone.

September 24th to October 7th is New York City’s Off Broadway Week! You can get 2 for 1 prices on almost any of the amazing productions. The Metropolitan Opera not only gives free tours, their new season is just beginning.

The Food Network puts on a Wine and Food Fest from Thursday October 11th to Sunday, October 14th.  You can also enjoy the New York Coffee Festival from October 12th to October 14th. Delicious!

If you’re in the holiday spirit, catch the famous Halloween Parade down in Greenich Village. The New York Botanical Gardens will have its Holiday Train Show, the Andy Warhol Retrospective is at the Whitney, there is the Red Grooms Exhibit at the Malborough Gallery, and many other cultural hotspots to discover.

At the Fashion Institute of Technology, catch the Punk: Pretty Powerful Color exhibition – that’s a show that’s totally up my alley! Explore over 250 sites for Open House New York that are open to the public for free in the fall.

New York Comedy Fest is going on from November 5th through November 11th, and Rockefeller Center finally opens up its ice skating rink this time of year! As always, there’s the New York Marathon in the fall. Nothing like New York!
