Jazzy June in Palm Beach

June is quite jazzy and steaming up this month, here in Palm Beach County!

Le Rendez-vous has live music on Sunday nights and Tuesday nights, and you never know who’s going to be jammin’ there! It’s at 221 Datura Street off of Olive in downtown West Palm Beach – a fantastic place with fashion videos and delicious small bites- it’s a great romantic spot.

Perfect spot for a rendez-vous!

Then there’s Banko Cantina – it’s a three story restored bank building on Olive just south of Clematis Street, right around the corner from Le Rendez-vous where you can see a fabulous live Motown group singin’ and swingin’. The Motown Sound is on Tuesday nights, but you can always call them for additional information at (561) 355 – 1399.

In North County up in Jupiter it is The Double Roads Tavern off of Indiantown Road on US-1. They’re always having celebrations and anniversaries of all types of jazz, rock n’ roll, and blues. I highly recommend it!

I know Tony Silver and his band will be jammin’ at Dorian’s on Saturday night this week on Clematis Street, another great place to get your toes tapping.

Let’s not forget, in the South part of the county in Boca Raton, it’s the Funky Biscuit! They have live music just about every night of the week. Monday night is blues night – can’t miss that!

On Thursday nights every week, at the Waterfront in West Palm Beach, it’s Clematis By Night. This Thursday night, June 1st, Summer in Paradise opens with a tribute band to Michael Jackson called Man in the Mirror. Great activity for the whole family.

A couple of my favorites, Michael Masci at the Pelican Cafe every Thursday night this summer – he’ll be singing the American Songbook.

As the summer starts to sizzle, and June’s breezes are blowing with swingin’ jazz, remember, it’s all about dressing with style. Bring out those lightweight whites, brights, and pastels.

Keepin' cool!

The Nantucket Project

What an incredible journey! This year’s Nantucket Project brought in the best and the brightest writers, politicians, artists, and world leaders to the island of Nantucket for a whirlwind week that was certainly a meeting of the minds.

It was fabulous to hear so many successful people tell their stories. Norman Lear, creator of All in the Family, The Jeffersons and Good Times, took us through his groundbreaking career in television. At 94 years old, he is still producing: He just wrapped a 13 episode show for Netflix that premieres January 2nd. It’s a cuban version of One Day At a Time, starring Rita Moreno. I can’t wait to watch – she’s been a client and a friend for years!

Acclaimed actor Paul Giamatti, known for his work in Sideways, the HBO series John Adams and more, is currently traveling the country with his project called Theater of Wars. He and his fellow actors are performing Greek Tragedies for veterans all over the United States.

Another voice taking the stage was two-time Olympic gold medalist Hope Solo, the best goal-keeper in the world. She now has a new goal: fighting for equal pay for women. Monica Lewinsky is an anti-bullying ambassador, focusing her activism on preventing cyberbullying. Seeing so many strong women gave me such a thrill for the future.

For all the inspiring women, there were certainly hard-working men as well. Tom Scott is the man who made it all happen, and it was such a joy to meet the founder of the Nantucket Project. Deepak Chopra was on hand to help us all harness our chi and align our chakras, representing a voice for alternative medicine. Gordon Gund startedFoundation Fighting Blindness, dedicated to helping those who are losing their site. Through his research he has been able to reverse the blindness of seven children worldwide, and one of them was interviewed live at the event! The eyes of the audience were as wet as the coastal weather.

One Accessory, Five Looks

While you are still enjoying your late summer adventures, I want to share one of my very important travel wardrobe secrets with you…

My advice is to pick just one very special accessory, and choose multiple ways to utilize it, which will enable you to avoid overpacking.

To demonstrate this principal, I have chosen a one of a kind silk shantung wrap. It is made with black and copper taffeta with hand-painted touches and a large gingham print.

You need to start with your basic black separates: A tee top, slacks, a skirt or a simple dress.

It is essential to have a variety of jewelry pieces that can add a little pop, and don’t require a lot of room in your carry-on.

Rather than weighing your suitcase down with gemstones, opt for lighter wearable art pieces made with treasures from the sea.

Nee Guinea pyrene shells, enamel-dipped coral, and hand-carved Mother-of-Pearl.

As a final addition I’ve selected a beautiful belt made with hand-cast polished pewter, onyx and horn inlay and a custom made leather-netted strap. It’s adjustable to any size, so it fits any body type.

The versatility of this accessory allows me to transform your simple pieces into dynamic, unique, one of a kind looks that can take you through an entire week, never looking the same way twice.

Everyone has their wardrobe basics. It’s my job to transform your clothing options with touches of color and one of a kind accessories.

I am looking forward to hearing from you. Give me a call at (917) 209 – 0516 or email bonnie@bonnieroseman.com to schedule your personlized appointment.

Summer Sparks

Have you ever wanted to dance on a rooftop while watching the sunset over the sea?

I’ll never forget tapping my toes on the Whaling Museums beautiful rooftop observation deck while I watched the sun dip into the waters of the Nantucket coastline. The Nantucket Historical Association is hosting more fabulous summer events on their gorgeous roof, so if you missed this party, there are more to come!

Rooftop Party

On July 14th, the Nantucket Preservation Society hosted the Summer Lecture and Luncheon. Attendees dined and enjoyed a talk from authors Hutton Wilkinson and Flynn Kuhnert, as they detailed their new book set titled A Walk to Elsie’s, which chronicles one of the most famous interior designers of the 20th century.

Bonnie with the authors.

It’s been so fabulous to attend the summertime community events of Nantucket and see all the fabulous women wearing B-L-T! It was like a mini fashion show at the Artist’s Association of Nantucket dinner party. Way to “B,” ladies!
