Stay Safe East Coast!

We’re just getting through the heels of Irma, and Harvey before that, and now we have Jose working its way up to Nantucket with tropical storm gusts and rain. Now Hurricane Maria is working its way up to Florida and the East Coast.

It’s so important to listen for emergency updates, evacuation notices, and updates from the National Hurricane Center. Track the progress of the storms by visiting their website, here.

I just want to wish everybody, from Florida all the way across the United States and up North here in New England a safe week! My best wishes to everyone at Legends Radio, and all the listening audience.

God Bless,

-Bonnie

Seaport for all Seasons

Newburyport Massachusetts, only 35 minutes from Boston! It is a seaport for all seasons, and a thriving community with unique shopping, fine dining, arts and culture.

It’s the birthplace of the United States Coast Guard! In the spring and summer, you can stroll through downtown while you admire the window boxes and hanging flowers and plants. Don’t forget to check out all the adorable shops.

Enjoy flowers, specialty shops and fun festivals

It’s Nantucket life, but easier to get to, without having to deal with the ferries that take you 30 miles across the sea. The Clipper City Rail Trail & Harborwalk  is only 1.1 miles, and it’s extremely scenic. You can do birding field trips to Plum Island, or even whale watching – it all sounds amazing, for people of all ages!

You can walk or bike this fabulous trail

You don’t want to miss the Custom House Maritime Museum. And in the fall, you can go to the Fall Harvest Fest. During autumn days, don’t be surprised if you see that all the town lampposts have been creatively decorated. In the winter, it’s fun to cross-country ski and snowshoe!

Dining and drinking for a good cause at Harvest Fest

Coming up in October for ten days, it’s Savor Newburyport. There’s a chili cookoff, a craft beer event, and the 2nd annual cocktail and appetizer competition. All of this does sound so delicious, and the best part is, proceeds benefit local charities!

A delicious festival for the whole family

So whether you’re wearing those toasty cashmere sweaters in the brisk sea air of Newburyport Massachusetts, or the lightweight cottons on the South Florida Coast, remember, it’s all about style.

Shop the Newburyport collection from Bonnie Roseman’s BLT – comfort and elegance.

Nantucket: Better Known as “The Grey Lady”

It’s live from the Grey Lady this week, and Bonnie is buzzing around the island of Nantucket. It’s 33 miles from Cape Cod, and there’s much activity going on here!

This week starts off with the 22nd annual Nantucket Film Festival, June 21st through the 26th. The festival features over 70 films from all over the world, with many of the screenwriters, directors and actors on island to talk about the films. Check it out at www.nantucketfilmfestival.org.

On Saturday June 24th at 10 am, there is an amazing charity event for A Safe Place. It’s a fundraiser event in which men walk in women’s shoes to raise awareness about violence against women. It’s called “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” – are you man enough? It should be quite an event!

There’s an abundance of museums on island worth exploring. It’s a great activity for all ages. There’s the Nantucket Whaling Museum, The Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum, The Nantucket Life-saving Museum, and the Maria Mitchell Association.

One classic feature of Nantucket’s landscape are the many beautiful and historical lighthouses to explore, and there are tours of the oldest house on island, which was built in 1686. It’s just a fascinating place!

Raven’s Walk is another great Nantucket adventure. A gal will take you on a guided tour of all the haunted houses on the island, and tell you the stories of who lived there and how they died. A fun and mysterious evening walk through the cobblestone streets of Nantucket.

Be intrigued by the haunted history of the town of Nantucket.

There are over 82 miles of pristine beaches on the island. With shells and sand and wave action that varies from one side of the island to the other, you’re in for some breathtaking views.

The island is only 14 miles long by 3.5 miles wide, but there is so much to see! Thirty-five miles of bike paths cover the island to give you the opportunity to get up close and personal with nature, see the beauty of the island, and keep the traffic level down. I highly recommend it!

You're sure to see window boxes full of flowers on your bike ride.

There are so many farms developing on the island that it’s becoming a sustainable island. The food is so fresh and delicious. The farm tour at Bartlett’s Farm enables you to pick your own strawberries and tomatoes. What fun!

On the island, there are hundreds of artists who reside here year round. Due to their presence, ACK has developed The Nantucket Artist’s Association. During the summer there are exhibitions weekly. Local galleries and antique dealers are willing to share some of Nantucket’s richest history through their beautiful objects of art.

Whether you’re lucky enough to come to this beautiful little island off the coast of Cape Cod called Nantucket, or you’re down in Southern Florida enjoying the seashore there, remember that it’s all about wearing beautiful lightweight clothing, natural fibers, beautiful colors, and being stylish.
