Busy Buzzing Around April in Palm Beach County

April is still abundant with activity, here in Palm Beach County this week.

This Saturday will be the last Green Market of the season, from 9 AM until 1 PM down at the Waterfront in West Palm Beach. Fresh fruit, vegetables, sweet treats and more. What a wonderful way to spend an early morning and early afternoon. Delicious!

On April 22nd, in honor of Earth Day, Palm Beach Atlantic University will have a special dance ensemble performing, along with another non-profit dancing organization called Dancing Waters. They’ll be performing at the Jupiter Lighthouse at 4 PM – mark it in your calendar!

Talking about dance, A Chorus Line at the Kravis Center, one night only, April 20th at 2 PM. A Tony-award-winning show is coming to town!

Mark it in your planner – the Taglialatella Gallery is having a gala Evening of Fine Art on Thursday the 26th of April from 6 PM to 8 PM. It’s for the Jewish Family and Children Services of Palm Beach County.  Another fun art event is Rolando Chang Barrero and his Box Gallery in West Palm Beach, the on the Belvedere Corridor. Barrero is having another fabulous opening on the 21st at 7 PM – go online to check details.

An amazing organization called the Foundation for Women’s Cultural and Economic Literacy is celebrating this April with quite a few events. You just need to go to FWCEL.org/events. It’s another great foundation in our area worth tapping into.

In Boca Raton at Lynn University, they are featuring three world class Puerto Rican musicians, including multi-grammy award-winning Nester Torres. In a world premiere, it will be on April 21st and 22nd. Call the Wold Performing Arts Center, or go to events.lynn.edu. The number is 561-237-9000. A wonderful theater, incredible musicians….What a night!

Busy Buzzing Around in April in Palm Beach County

Here we are in April and I’m still buzzing around, and everybody else seems to be too!

It might be a tough ticket, but The Bodyguard is playing through the weekend at the Kravis Center. Also, don’t forget Chris Botti is coming to the Kravis Center on the 18th. He is always a sellout, so don’t hesitate to call right away! I’m excited that I’m going to be seeing Carole Bufford this weekend! She’ll be at the Kravis Center at 1:30 PM this Saturday, April 14th. She’ll be doing a couple shows, and she’s a wonderful talent.

Ready to hear a siren singing in a fun artistic atmosphere? Ann Hampton Callaway will be performing at the Arts Garage on Friday night, April 13th.

On Sunday night you can catch Mark Telesca at the Funky Biscuit in Boca Raton! Then on Monday, he’s the host of the Blues Jam, which is free admission, and a wonderful way to spend an evening.

We have some wonderful charity events coming up! The radiothon at Legends Radio will be this weekend to raise money and awareness for the Preservation of the Great American Songbook, so listen in!

Early April is Full of Fun

There are always interesting things happening in Palm Beach County the first week of April…

The Palm Beach Symphony will have a lovely concert entitled Romantic Reflections, April 17th at 8 PM at the Kravis. Go to kravis.org for further information – it’s sure to be a great performance.

The Historical Society of Palm Beach County will have a series of special events on Saturday April 7th, starting at 11 AM and ending around 6 PM. The event is called The Swamp, and it’s all about the Everglades, and how to preserve them. For further information, go to HSPBC.org.

You Won’t have to Hunt Around to Find Fun Things to Do in Palm Beach this Holiday Week

Wishing you all a wonderful spring season and a Happy Passover and Happy Easter this week!

This weekend there are Easter egg hunts all over Palm Beach County! From the Palm Beach Recreation Department which is organizing one at the Rec Center at 340 Seaview. The Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, Flagler Museum, and there’s even one at the new Royal Poinciana Plaza. They’ll be having one starting in the West Court around 11 o’clock on Saturday and it should be fun for everyone.

I love dancing, and for Dancing with the Stars fans, you might want to see if you’re lucky enough to still get a ticket at the Kravis to see Maks, Val and Peta up close and personal dancing their socks off. Go to the Box Office at the Kravis ASAP or visit kravis.org to see if you can still grab one.

If you want to feel like you’re going to the Blue Note, go check out the Deb Silver tribute to Frank Sinatra the first Saturday in April at Voltaire in West Palm Beach. Go online to reserve a ticket, she’s absolutely fabulous!

If you’re into film and art, go check out the documentary on Claude Monet the Impressionist artist, which was filmed in Europe and will be shown at 2 o’clock this Saturday the 31st at the Society of Four Arts in their auditorium. For more information head to fourarts.org.

Palm Beach is Hoppin’ as Spring Approaches

Things are still hoppin’ in Palm Beach County this week, with Passover and Easter right around the corner, and Spring in the air!

It’s that time of year for Palm Beach Boat Show! This year it will be held from the 22nd of March to the 25th of March. It’s a four day event, with nearly a mile of boats that are in the water and all kinds of exhibitions along the West Palm Beach Waterfront off of Clematis Street. Fun for the whole family!

There are all kinds of outdoor activities this time of year with the weather being so beautiful, and with so many flowers in bloom. Here is a list of fun outdoor spaces to see!

  1. Make sure that you stop at the Mounts Botanical Garden! Lots of foliage and many rare plants and flowers.
  2. You can also stop by the Society of the Four Arts, they have a beautiful sculpture garden with a new exhibit.
  3. The Palm Beach Zoo is just wonderful this time of year, and it may be because the animals are enjoying the weather too!
  4. Check out Antique Row for some great window shopping! The area is now full of delicious restaurants like Table 26, Grato, Mazie’s, Cholo Soy Cocina and Belle and Maxwell to name a few, all on South Dixie Highway in the Antique Row Area.

My Charity Pick of the Week is Sweet Dream Makers, a non-profit organization based in Boca Raton, Florida, and they provide beds and bedding to struggling families. Check them out online, a very good cause.

One of my favorite entertainers, a two-time Tony Award Winner and my dear friend Christine Ebersole will be performing her Cabaret Show at the Parker Playhouse this Saturday night the 24th.
