Life is Flowering This April in Palm Beach County

With April showers, there is a lot of activity flowering in Palm Beach County this week.

PLANT-A-PALOOZA 2017 this week at Mount’s Botanical Garden is featuring and an amazing assortment of exotic plants and flowers. The best part is, you can take them home! It’s on Saturday and Sunday April 29th and 30th.

On April 21st from 5 to 8 PM, we have the APBC, Art on Park Gallery in Lake Park. It’s the opening reception for the Still Life 2017 Exhibit featuring artist Barry Seidman.

April 27th brings about the Love Fest 2017, an event at Rocco’s Tacos in Palm Beach Gardens to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Please call for a reservation through Revolution’s Dating. Don’t miss your spot at this Love Fest!

With the season coming to an end, there’s a celebration and it’s the End of the Season Party at Cafe L’Europe with entertainers Philippe Harari and Bobbi Rae! If you want to dance the night away, make your reservation soon or you won’t get a table. It’s going to be a fun night!

For you theater goers out there, if you’re a fan of Neil Simon, it’s They’re Playing Our Song at the Lake Worth playhouse April 15th through the 30th.

Different cast, different theater, still a story that will delight all.

If you’re a social butterfly, and have a conscience, you’ll want to go to the Butterfly Ball! It benefit’s The Lord’s Place and St. Ann’s. It’s being held at the Sailfish Club in Palm Beach on Saturday April 22nd at 7 PM. Call Tierney O’Hara at 561-449-1212 to reserve a spot. It’s an exclusive Palm Beach party, and the funds raised go to a wonderful charity.

My movie pick of the week is The Zookeeper’s Wife. It’s a very moving story that takes place in 1939, in Warsaw, Poland.

A personal favorite of mine is seeing my little 13-year-old rising star Ava Faith sing at the Jazz Jam at Double Roads Tavern in Jupiter this Sunday April 23rd from 5 to 9 PM. Not to be missed!

Remember, with the season being full of sunshine and flowers, wear those beautiful whites and brights and pastels and it’s all about style.

The Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach is having their All Student Show through Friday, April 14th. I always find this to be an enjoyable exhibition.

An adorable show for the whole family: at Old School Square and the Crest Theatre in Delray Beach, it’s the Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre on April the 18th at 7 PM. The furry and fabulous show will feature over 30 pets from different shelters, along with Moscow circus veteran Gregory Popovich. It is sure to be an incredible show.

On the 15th of April, one night only, it’s Chris Botti at the Kravis Center. His trumpet playing and showmanship make it my favorite performance of the year! If you haven’t seen him perform, it’s a must-see.

At the Colony through April 15th it’s Mary Wilson of the Supremes! She’s a phenomenal performer, with so much energy and life. Seeing her show is like going back to the days of Motown.

Another fun outing for people of all ages is at the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum in West Palm Beach…For the Love of the Game: Baseball in the Palm Beaches through July.

Movie pick of the week: Going in Style with Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Ann Margaret, Alan Arkin – need I say more? Perfect for the over 50 set. It’s a film that will leave you feeling good and laughing about growing older.

April’s Sweet in Palm Beach, No Foolin’

Don’t be a fool this April! There are many events worth checking out this week in Palm Beach County.

On April 6th, it’s The Modern Show, an art show at Studio 1608. See the artworks at 1608 South Dixie in West Palm Beach. The event is sponsored by Piper’s Angel Foundation and will feature 25 to 40 artists at the exhibition – it’s not to be missed!

A great event for the whole family. — A great art show for a great cause.

Make your reservations now for All That Jazz with Nancy Kelly at the Arts Garage, Friday April 7th at 8 PM – a wonderful way to spend an evening.

A fun night out for sure. — Nancy’s jazz singing is swingin’!

If it’s bluegrass you’re interested in, at the Pavilion at the Flagler Museum on Saturday April 8th at 3 in afternoon, enjoy Dailey and Vincent! Get your tickets in advance – it should be a good one.

A great reason to get out and enjoy the sun. — Bluegrass music at the Flagler Museum can’t be beat.

If you haven’t been before, on Saturdays only from 9 AM until 1 in the afternoon through April 22nd we have the West Palm Beach Green Market. There is free parking in the Evernia city garages and Banyan parking. It has some of the best produce and wonderful gourmet goodies. I strongly suggest you go down there before it ends.

My movie pick of the week: Frantz, a film that takes place during the aftermath of World War I. Extremely moving – it was filmed in Germany and France.

Palm Beach is Hoppin’

Everyone is hopping around like little bunnies in Palm Beach this week!

If you want to see some wonderful crafts and artwork, go to CityPlace this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, it’s the CityPlace Art Fair! Always a winner.

A fun thing to do is: My Life On A Diet, with Renee Taylor. She’s hysterical! It’s at Mizner Park Cultural Center in Boca on March 30th and April 1st – don’t miss!

A must-see event! — Renee is known for playing the mother of Fran Drescher in the TV show ‘The Nanny’ – she’s hilarious!

Before all the Easter Egg hunts begin, check out an exhibit at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens – Rising: The Mystical World of Sophie Ryder – April 30th.

My movie pick of the week: Beauty and the Beast. A must-see for the entire family. Try to see it on the IMAX screen. A wonderful film.

On April 3rd it’s the final event of the Cultural Council of the Palm Beaches, it’s Culture & Cocktails: An interview with Rob Russell and Jill & Rich Switzer. Informative and entertaining!

Talking about The Colony, one of my favorite crooners is Michael Masci! He tickles the ivories and does his crooning thing at the Polo Lounge every Tuesday through Thursday night during the season. Hop over there, and make sure you don’t miss him – he’s a treat!

If you want to slow down the pace a bit, do a walking history tour at the West Palm Beach Green Market on April 1st at 10 AM. Join local historian and architect Rick Gonzalez for a fun and lively morning tour. For further information, go to wpb.org/events.

Bonnie is Buzzing About Spring

It’s a spring awakening here in Palm Beach County, and all activities are in full bloom.

Straight from Telluride’s Film Festival, it’s Mountainfilm on Tour at the Kravis Center on Saturday on March 25th at 10 am and 7 PM. You can bring the whole family! Inspirational.

Telluride Film Festival comes to the Kravis.

Arcadia by Tom Stoppard at the Palm Beach Dramaworks starting March 31st. Get your tickets early, it’s going to be a good one.

A show worth seeing. — A Tom Stoppard play at Palm Beach Dramaworks.

A totally different experience, Waist Watchers, the musical, at the PGA Arts Center. It closes on March 26th – be prepared to laugh a few pounds off!

The superstar of cabaret is coming to the Royal Room at The Colony Hotel this week: Marilyn Maye. From March 21st to March 25th, you do not want to miss this one.

Straight from New York’s Birdland, it’s Jim Caruso and Billy Stritch at the helm of the Cast Party on the 23rd of March at Old School Square in Del Ray. I’ll be in the audience watching my new discovery, Ava Faith, the most fabulous 13-year-old singer. Not to be missed!

If you haven’t been to the Flagler Museum this season, go see the new exhibition Harem: Unveiling the Mystery of Orientalist Art. Very interesting.

My movie pick of the week is: Sense of an Ending. Check for local listings – it’s clever and inventive.

The most fabulous outdoor activity this week is the International Boat Show, down at the waterfront in West Palm Beach from March 23rd to the 26th. Have a ball!
