January’s Jivin’ in Palm Beach

It’s coming to the end of January, and things are still jammin’ here in Palm Beach County!

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is one of my favorites, and closing this weekend is Hairspray!  I think Inspector Calls is almost completely sold out from February 4th to the 18th, so hurry up and try to get a ticket! If not, South Pacific is coming and will show in March from the 5th to the 25th. Get your tickets way in advance – it’s a wonderful, wonderful theater, and they do fabulous productions. At the Photographic Center in West Palm Beach they have Foto Fusion coming this Saturday, and there will be over 60 photographers participating in this wonderful event – not to be missed!

My charity pick of the week is for breast cancer awareness! A good way to get involved with the cause is participating in the Susan G. Koman South Florida Race for the Cure down at the Meyer Amphitheater this Saturday. Check their website here for further information and registration.

One of my favorite all time comedians, Robert Klein, is going to be performing at Temple Beth El on February the 1st at 8 o ‘clock. Tickets are $40 dollars, and just call Temple Beth El at (561) 833 – 0339. I’ll definitely be going to that!

Jammin’ in January

As usual, there’s so much happening in Palm Beach County this week I don’t know where to begin!

Art Palm Beach is at the Convention Center this week from Thursday through Sunday, dedicated to emerging artists and masterworks of contemporary art. Check for times at their website, right here.

The South Florida Fair is going on, and if you venture that way you can enjoy one of the largest Ferris Wheel’s in the country – fun for the whole family!

A special event will be taking place at the Palm Beach Zoo on Thursday, January 18th from 6 to 8 PM. Emmy-Award-Winning documentary camera man Tom Fitz will be discussing the challenges of photographing wild animals. It is part of the Conservation Leadership Lecture Series. Bonnie’s Birthday Buzz

Everyone is buzzing around Palm Beach County during this busy week, and it’s my birthday week so I’ll be buzzing around too!

There is so much going on in the art scene. On the 11th of January, it’s the opening night of the Palm Beach Modern Contemporary Show. That will be under the tent off of Okeechobee Boulevard. There will also be an art opening of Art Palm Beach, that will be at the Convention Center, and opens on January 17th. Mark them in your calendar! Both are not to be missed!

A huge night at the Kravis Center is coming up this week – Night of Stars, a Broadway celebration at the Dreyfoos Hall. It starts at 7 o’clock on January 12th. Visit Kravis.org for any information regarding tickets. The show will include stars like Angela Lansbury, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Chita Rivera to name a few. I’ll be there too – I can’t wait to see you all!

The Assouline Book Store at the Royal Poinciana Plaza has something special happening this weekend – it will be taking place from January 12th through the 16th of January. On display at the book store will be iconic photographs of some very famous women from the James Danziger Gallery from New York. It will be an exceptional show, featuring about 30 pieces.

My movie pick of the week is All the Money in the World with Christopher Plummer playing J. Paul Getty. It’s received excellent reviews and awards at the Golden Globes.

A New Year for the New You

Happy New Year! The year 2018 starts off with a bang here in Palm Beach County, there’s so much to do!

It’s another exciting opening this week at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens in West Palm Beach, featuring Boaz Vaadia and his stone sculptures. Check their website here for further information.

At the Society for the Four Arts on Sunday at 3 PM is the Calidore String Quartet. Very beautiful music.

On the 5th of January, at 5:30 at night, at the Mandel Library in downtown West Palm Beach, go and see Bill Mays, one of the top jazz pianists in the business.  Another wonderful event.

Down by the Waterfront they have a free concert Thursday night, it’s Clematis by Night. Check wpb.org/clematisbynight for information on who will be performing. It’s free, and fun for everyone in the family.

Another outdoor exhibit is Washed Ashore at the Mounts Botanical Garden. The exhibit features sea creatures made from marine debris that has been collected. There are ten giant sculptures. Bring everyone in the family – it’s so inspiring!

The Kravis Center is always first class entertainment. This week, Finding Neverland is playing, straight from Broadway. For people who want a little touch of comedy, see Brad Garrett and Rita Rudner on Tuesday January 9th at 8 PM. Check kravis.org for tickets and more information.

A Family Affair this Christmas in Palm Beach

It’s all about family this week of Christmas, here in Palm Beach County.

Go to CityPlace! There’s live entertainment on Fridays and Saturdays – you can bring the whole family and enjoy live music and performances. Check cityplace.org for an entertainment schedule.

It’s a Charlie Brown Christmas live at the Kravis Center for Performing Arts! This fabulous, fun evening for the whole family will take place December 23rd. Check their website for times.

A classic story that everyone loves

A fun time indoors or outdoors is the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. Go see Out of the Blue, the latest exhibition featuring Japanese Indigo Textiles. After that, you can enjoy a stroll through the magnificent gardens. This is all in Delray Beach. Visit Morikami.org for more information.

In Palm Beach it’s another family affair at the Flagler Museum! Go there for their afternoon tea, with a variety of brews, cookies and scones.  Their holiday decorations are so beautiful!

For chocolate lovers and people who love and miss the winter weather, go to Hoffman’s Winter Wonderland. It’s so much fun: there’s ice skating, the best chocolates and ice cream, and over 125,000 LED lights on display. There are tons of photo-ops for the kids, with Santa and Mrs. Clause waiting to say hello.

My charity pick of the week is the Food Pantry in Palm Beach County. There are over 97 pantries in West Palm Beach and they could use some donations to help them feed the homeless during this holiday season.

The Food Pantry is always hoping for donations and volunteers.

My Movie Pick of the week is the Greatest Showman starring Hugh Jackman – bring the whole family, I promise it will not disappoint.
